About Our Nursery

In the spring of 2021, after 45 years as a leader in the Wholesale Nursery business, Van Essen Nursery Company retired, leaving empty nearly 90 greenhouses and many acres of prime nursery real estate on the banks of the South Santiam River, near Lebanon, Oregon.

Derry and Celia Breeden, newly married and eager to begin their own nursery in the Willamette Valley, moved in. Dave Van Essen became their consultant, and today they follow in his footsteps, learning the trade from a master and specializing in many of the same varieties of perennials, woody ornamentals, and Japanese maples for which Van Essen Nursery was known.

Breeden Family farms serves garden centers, wholesalers, and landscapers across the country. Peruse our online catalog and sign up for our availability to view our ever-expanding product line.
